Easter Camping Tips…

There’s nothing better than the great outdoors and fresh air when it comes to spending time with the family, and finally tearing the kids away from their computer games. If you’re looking for a cost effective way to holiday this year, camping is a great option.

As most parents know, taking the kids on holiday is never straightforward, so to make sure you’re prepared and the holiday is a success, we’ve come up with some top tips:

• If you’ve got young children, you don’t want the noise of the campsite entertainment area keeping your little ones awake. Double check when booking, that your pitch is in an appropriate area.

• GAME TIME! Camping is a great holiday to get the kids active and moving. Make sure you’ve stocked up on entertainment to keep boredom at bay. Check with the campsite first to see if they supply, but you may need to pack your own footballs, bat and balls, tennis rackets, swimming gear etc.

• There’s usually some sort of kids club at most campsites – when enquiring, find out more information on the times and costs before booking. During the holiday periods, it’s worth checking the carer to child ratio and eating plans so that you’re in the know.

•Naturally kids can be accident prone (and some adults too), get clued up on the nearest first aid supplies (take your own kit as a precaution), and where the nearest Drs and hospitals are.

• Packing the car for camping can be a squeeze, so if your children are fussy eaters, plan the trip’s food ahead so that you can shop appropriately without the excess waste. If some foods can be cooked or prepared ahead of time, you may save time and stress while on your holiday.

• Temperatures at night can vary and children are more prone to these changes. Make sure you have suitable sleeping bags and equipment so that they get a good night’s sleep. We have a selection of quality sleeping bags for kids http://www.snugpak.com/outdoor/sleeping-bags/kids

• If you want some more ideas of activities and places to go, take a look at the Britain on Foot website which has been created to help people and families get active. http://www.britainonfoot.co.uk/
